a really fun 2 year old!

It was very coincidental because this client emailed me and wanted to do pictures at the exact same location my client from last week chose.  So, I had never been there before – and now I’ve been there TWICE in one week!  This was a morning session so the light was very different – so beautiful though.  Little miss “C” was so sweet and funny – she even gave me a hug – which rarely happens with little ones this age.  Her mom and dad were fun and relaxed and we had a nice time.

When I was browsing through the pictures to pick a couple favorites – this was the PERFECT shot to describe the beginning of our session.  It was all about the “ball” (although I think it’s a crabapple). :)  It’s the coolest looking fruit and they were everywhere on the ground.  Miss “c” was cracking up chasing and throwing them around.

she struck a little pose for me….

Love this one of the family.

And finally, the hat that we forgot about.  We weren’t sure if she would make it through anymore photos, but decided to give it a try.  She was such a good sport!

was it worth it?

I have wanted to shoot some “field pictures” for a while now and hadn’t spotted the perfect spot.  The other day I saw this overgrown field (where they are supposed to build some houses but you know the story there) and told my husband I wanted to do some pictures there.  He thought I was weird – I believe his comment was “but it’s just weeds”.   Of course, that didn’t change my mind, so when Kylie woke up from her nap I asked her if she was game for some pictures and she said “okay”. :)   People assume that I take tons of pictures of my daughter – and I do – but not all the time.  It’s usually special occasions or special settings where I take a bazillion pictures and then pick my favorites.

The reason I ask “was is worth it” above is because as we were leaving the field it crossed my mind that I could have just exposed BOTH of us to POISON IVY!  Of course, I had a total freak out on the way home and we both jumped in the shower as soon as we walked in the door (not sure if that was the right thing to do) and I’m just hoping that neither of us break out in a rash…..

So, these are my favorites.  I have to admit that it was very difficult to shoot.  I had limited time with my two-year-old’s patience (and no assistant) and the light was very harsh and strange to manipulate.  But, I think it was worth it (no signs of P.I. yet) and I think these are pretty cool.  What do you think??

Tried some special effects on this one….

I think this one is my very favorite – not sure why, but it’s just the sweetest look.

family of five

What a gorgeous afternoon yesterday – 70 degrees in  November – it’s CRAZY!  I met this wonderful family of five at a fabulous location and we had a great time.  It was interesting working with “older” children.  They were 11, 6 and 4.  Usually my oldest subjects are 4 or 5 so any kind of cartoon or Disney conversation works pretty well – so I found myself thinking back to when I was 11 and wondering what I wanted to talk about.  Mr. “S” was pretty serious – trying not to give me his real smile – but I managed a few – especially with Dad’s help.  And the two girls were so precious in their dresses with their big blue eyes.

Mr. “S” and one of his real smiles….

Miss “L” with her sweet dimples

Miss “O” with her little grin – she was REALLY good at not looking at me.

I had to include this family picture – it’s so cute to me.  I know everyone isn’t smiling (sad miss “O”) – but isn’t that real life?  These are the moments that just make me laugh.

The sisters….

And finally, a beautiful moment with Mom & Dad.  I love this picture – I asked them to look at each other and it ended up with giggles from mom.  They were very sweet together.

the 50′s

A little break from the session previews for a personal note…..

Halloween has come and gone and we had a GREAT time!  Our neighborhood does a Halloween Parade since most of the kids are under 4 years old and traditional trick or treating isn’t really an option yet.  We ended the parade at one of the neighbor’s back yard and ordered pizza for everyone.  It’s unbelievable the amount of kids that we have here in our little neighborhood - it seemed like 50 (but probably more like 25ish) - and almost none of them were even born when we moved into this neighborhood 4 years ago.  Oh, how the times change….  Happy hours used to end at 1am – and now they’re done by 7:30pm so we can get all the kiddos in bed.   And I’m so tired – is that from being a mom – or am I just getting old?

Anyway – here’s my sweet Kylie in her “50′s girl” dress that I got at the consignment sale for the bargain price of $5 (I LOVE A BARGAIN!).  And this is her good buddy Ainslee (aka Uniqua from the Backyardigans).   They held hands and collected candy together for the whole parade.

And, here is the James family – in all our 50′s glory! :)   It’s funny, Jeff and I didn’t even talk about dressing up – and then about 30 minutes before it was time to go, we were both scrounging around the house for anything that would look the part.  If only we had a leather jacket for jeff and a PINK sweatshirt for me – it would have been just like Grease Lightning!  (And, yes, there was a pregnant lady in that movie – remember Rizzo??!!!!)

fun – fun – fun!

We had a blast this afternoon at a beautiful location that my client picked out.  At the end of the session big brother even said – “I’m really glad we came”.  I consider that a HUGE compliment from a 5-year-old!  Of course, I’m sure the giant lollipop I gave him probably swayed his decision on the whole thing – but I’m not above a bribe!

This family was great to work with – very relaxed and up for anything.  Mr. “b” and Miss “m” were soooooo sweet, well behaved and full of smiles.   Can’t wait to see them again at the Santa Day on November 8th at the Shoppe of Vinings (mark your calendars and join us!!!).

Meet big brother – such a cutie!  He was so nice to his little sister.

And just look at little sis – who wouldn’t die to have those gorgeous blue eyes and cherry lips!

Dad & son…..

This picture just melts my heart.  My Kylie-bear is about the same age and there is nothing sweeter than when she wraps her arms around me and gives me a big squeeze.  Miss “m” was also saying “I love my mommy”.

And the whole family.  Miss “m” insisted on laying on top of mommy instead of on the grass like I asked – but hey – sometimes they know better than me – great shot!
