big miracle, small package

Sweet baby “N” was born very early – but he’s perfect in every way!  At just 7 weeks old, he’s already 8 pounds and a bundle of joy.  I wasn’t sure what to expect with this session, since baby “N” is older than most of my newborns, and yet, his due date was just last week!  He was an angel and hardly made a peep (except when we took his pacifier away!).  When I downloaded the images I was so touched by the love and joy that exuded from each picture.  Mom and Dad were so fun, happy and loving towards each other – even in the midst of what can be a VERY stressful time.  I can’t wait to watch this little one grow up (with all of our other little ones in the ‘hood) and I’m glad to have found two new friends!

Without further delay – enjoy!

I love when I get the smile picture!  Don’t worry Mom & Dad – you’ll be seeing LOTS more of these soon!

And, a funny one – just look at that face!  He’s going to have some personality right?

a family from houston

I had a fun session with this family of four.  They are new to the Atlanta area and saw my work in the Shoppe of Vinings.  The boys are a true delight – and the youngest is the master of silly faces.  Mom and Dad were great – and have been married for 14 years!  I love that!

I’m leaving on vacation tomorrow so I told them it would be a few weeks before they would get the entire gallery.  I decided I HAD to put a couple pics up on the blog right away because at the end of the session Mom asked “do you think we got any good shots?”.   I know how it feels to be on the other side of the camera (for family portraits) and it all seems a bit chaotic – and you wonder if there were any good pictures at all.  But, as I tell all my clients, if you just let the kids be themselves (run around, make goofy faces, jump and be silly) – then you’ll get a great variety of beautiful images that really tell the story of who they are – at that moment.

So, at a quick glance, here are a few,  not just good, but great images – in my opinion!  :)  I hope you enjoy!

The stars were aligned for this unique image on the right.  The boys jumped onto the rock, turned around, and smiled at me.  The sun was shining through the trees behind them – so cool!  (Oh – and notice the master of silly faces in the image on the left!)

ahead of the game

I know it probably seems early to you – but for me it’s never too early to prepare for the holiday season.  All of a sudden, summer is over, fall is booked and I am in over my head in holiday orders.  So, I’m starting early and decided to give you a sneak peak of some of the adorable holiday cards I will be offering.  Like last year, I will also have some specialty holiday gift items available as well.  More to come….

** UPDATE ** Fall is not booked yet.  It seems my statement above has caused some confusion and I have had an influx of calls about booking sessions for the fall (not that I’m complaining!).  :)  I haven’t started scheduling for October/November, but I do have a list, so if you would like to be added just let me know!

had to share…

I have been so busy lately with sessions and editing galleries, I haven’t done much sharing on the personal side.  Although I have been under the weather all week, I decided to take a few pictures of Jake yesterday morning.  He is already the victim of the “second child syndrome” and I have about 75% less pictures of him than I did of Kylie when she was this age.    Our “session” lasted about 10 minutes – and then Kylie wanted to join in.  I was cracking up as I was going through this series of pictures, and I decided it was worth sharing.  There isn’t really one “perfect” picture, but together they tell the story of a beautiful sibling relationship that is just beginning.

I often have a string of pictures like these from client sessions as well.  On an individual basis, not really portrait worthy, but together, a great story.  So, the best thing to do is make a collage……. right?

Just look at the faces on Jake. He is already so animated and boisterous – I can only imagine what it will be like around here when he starts moving!

meet allyson….

After the CRAZY holiday season last year, I decided it was time to get some help!  Most of you already know Allyson, but for those of you who don’t, you are in for a treat!  She will be helping me (and you) with collage, wall gallery and album design as well as fulfillment of orders and other business stuff.  She has a true love for pictures and a great eye for what looks perfect together.  I know it will be a great journey for us as business associates and friends as we continue to move CCJames Photography to the next level.  She is an amazing mother of two, wife, nutritionist (consultation anyone?) and she loves a good glass of red wine!

Please leave a comment and give her a warm welcome!  :)
