Monday Love | Busy

Another (intermittent) edition of Monday Love…

A quote: “Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing.” -Lao Tzu

Something personal: The other night at dinner my sister-in-law was talking about guilt.  The same guilt we all feel as mothers.  Guilty for not doing this, or guilty for doing that, or guilty for doing ANYTHING for ourselves.  I feel guilty for sitting on my couch (because I know there are SO MANY other things I could be doing).  I read this article today that my friend Liz posted on facebook (you know, because I’m never too busy to check up on that).  The article is called the The ‘Busy’ Trap and it was a GREAT read.  I believe the whole crazy thought process goes hand in hand with the “guilt” I often feel for any moment that I’m not busy.  Busy, busy, busy – BLECH!  Busy doing what?  A whole bunch of stuff I will never remember doing (ummm, I think I just heard the laundry finish…..)

Well, I wanted to let everyone know that you won’t be hearing too much from me this month because I will be VERY BUSY spending time with my family.  Hopefully this will include reading some books, hanging by the pool, visiting old friends, cooking (and eating) yummy food, watching movies, taking some extra naps….. and maybe even doing NOTHING!  *** GASP***

And on that note, I thought I would share a few pictures of Kylie and Jake enjoying a past time that I used to enjoy when I was a kid.  Listening to music.  Only, when I wanted to listen to a song I loved over and over, I used to have to press the “record” and “pause” button at the same time and wait (andwaitandwaitandwait) for the radio to play the song so I could RUN-LIKE-A-CRAZY-PERSON to the tape deck and un-pause the button.  You know, for my really cooL mix tape, complete with commentary from the radio announcers that always talked over the intros to the songs.  For anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about, YES, I’m old.   I used to have records too.  So there!
