Monday Love | Made it through the weekend

Another edition of Monday love…

A Quote: “It kills you to see them grow up.  But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn’t.”  - Barbara Kingsolver, Animal Dreams

Something personal: It was quite a weekend, and I have to admit, I was quite the grump for most of it.  Jeff left on Friday with his Dad and brother for a track day (which he RARELY gets to do, but more than deserves) and I was left to handle the kids solo at Kylie’s final soccer game, followed by cupcakes and trophies.   Anyone who has more than one child can probably imagine how it went.  I wanted to watch Kylie play (she was doing really well – FINALLY) and Jake had plans of his own, namely, running for the playground.  Needless to say, it was challenging, and not because either of my kids were doing anything wrong or bad, but simply because I needed another set of eyes & hands (or maybe a glass of wine?).  I tried to pretend that it didn’t bother me that my son was screaming the highest-pitched, blood-curdling scream while trying to hit me — but it did.  Saturday my mood wasn’t much better and I did my best to occupy my kids and make it until bedtime  (insert any phrase about awful mothers here).  And then Jeff came home, we went to the CCFA Take Steps Walk on Sunday afternoon together as a family, and I felt so much better.  Single parenting is hard.  Period. Hence the quote above – which totally made me laugh out loud!

I’m proud to say that we raised over $2,000 for CCFA thanks to all the love and support of our family and friends.  THANK YOU!!!!!!  Here are a couple snapshots from yesterday afternoon – nothing special about the pictures — but to me they are SUPER SPECIAL kids!  :)

And cousin Ally joined in the fun!

Something I love: Mexican Food.  Yes, it’s my favorite.  I have been buying Xochitl chips in the store and they are the closest thing to authentic mexican tortilla chips I have ever found, VERY thin, crispy, and delicious!  Well, last week I bought a bag and many of the chips were stuck together, giant clumps of hardened chips.  I was cooking dinner and decided to take a minute to call the phone number listed on the bag, you know, under “comments & suggestions, call us.”  Well, a very nice lady answered the phone and said she would send me a fresh bag of chips via Fed Ex.  Really?  That’s it?  You’re not gonna make me cut out the proof of purchase and waste my time mailing it somewhere?  You’re not just gonna send me a coupon?  I was impressed.  But, even more impressed when they arrived two days later, packaged with such care.  :)

Now THAT is customer service!  ;)

Cool shopping find: Okay, I know this looks a bit industrial, but I was thinking how cool it would be to buy TWO of these and install them on the wall for Kylie & Jake.  That way, we can put all the paper, pencils, crayons, etc. inside and CLOSE the door when we are done!  Ahhhhh, easy clean up!  The IKEA laptop workstation - only $59.99!

Happy Monday!!!
